Alison Kinder

Alison Kinder read music at Oxford University and was then given a scholarship by Trinity College of Music where she studied viol with Alison Crum, being awarded the college’s Silver Medal for Early Music Studies. She is a founder member of the UK viol consort Chelys, with whom she enjoys researching and performing programmes covering all aspects of consort music.  Their recent projects have included a Dowland collaboration with soprano Dame Emma Kirkby, and a recording of the 5-part fantasias and vocal works of English composer Michael East with Fieri Consort.
Alison also has a particular interest in Renaissance viols (early viols made with no soundpost) with The Linarol Consort, who play on copies of the earliest surviving viol made by Franceso Linarolo.
A keen teacher of both children and adults, Alison is a tutor on Early Music courses across the UK, and is delighted to be visiting Mechelen this year.
